The Story

Built around a sculptural walnut and white partition whose organic cutouts are lit from behind — the most ambitious piece of joinery in the studio’s work so far. Elsewhere a hand-painted mountain mural rises behind a navy fluted headboard, and arched cane-and-brass screens frame the view through to the kitchen. A fold-down table tucks into the wall where space is tight.

Partition detail — Contour — 3BHK, Hathijan — The same screen at close range. The walnut runs continuously across the face, so the shapes read as removed from a single sheet rather than assembled from separate pieces.

Cane screen — Contour — 3BHK, Hathijan — Arched screens in brass and cane frame the view through to the kitchen. Cane keeps the divider permeable — the kitchen stays connected to the living space without being fully on show.

Mural bedroom — Contour — 3BHK, Hathijan — A hand-painted mountain landscape in slate and gold above a navy upholstered headboard. Keeping the headboard dark and low lets the painting hold the wall on its own.

Kitchen — Contour — 3BHK, Hathijan — Mauve gloss units under a black counter, with a textured tile backsplash. Gloss fronts double the available light in a galley that has only one window.

Pooja niche — Contour — 3BHK, Hathijan — An arched niche with a floral motif etched into the lit panel behind. Lighting the pooja from behind rather than above avoids the hard downward shadow that flattens a shrine.

Childrens room — Contour — 3BHK, Hathijan — A child's room in navy and yellow, with wardrobe, desk and mirror built as a single run. Arched door profiles carry the same curve used elsewhere in the flat, so the room belongs rather than reading as a separate scheme.

Arched bedroom — Contour — 3BHK, Hathijan — Arched profiles routed into cream wall panelling, with a slim vertical light set into the reveal. The arch repeats at varying widths across the wall, which gives rhythm without needing a second material.

Fold down table — Contour — 3BHK, Hathijan — A table that folds flat against the wall, with display shelving above. In a flat this size a dining surface has to earn its footprint; hinging it back leaves the passage clear when it is not in use.
