The Story

The most complete of the studio’s schemes: a palette of sage green, cream and warm oak, held together by arched forms that repeat through doorways, wardrobes, niches and mirrors. A chinoiserie mural of palms and birds sits behind the master bed. A traditional wooden jhoola anchors the living room, and the pooja niche is designed into the cabinetry rather than added to it.

Living jhoola — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — A traditional wooden jhoola against built-in sage seating. Keeping the seating low and built in leaves the swing as the only free-standing object in the room, which is what lets it hold the space.

Dining — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — Wall panels outlined in green with textured paper set into each recess. The banding does the work of a dado without drawing a horizontal line across the room, and the round table keeps circulation clear where the plan is narrow.

Kitchen — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — Sage green below, glass-fronted above, with a mosaic backsplash bridging the two. Glazing the wall units keeps the upper half of the room visually light where a solid run would have closed it in.

Entry cabinet — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — Shoe storage and a bench in a single unit, with arched cutouts that echo the arch used throughout the flat. Brass inlay picks out the curve, and the marble return gives the joinery something to stop against.

Study alcove — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — An arched recess in deep green, lit from within, holding the pooja. Building it into the joinery rather than adding a separate mandir means it sits inside the room's language instead of interrupting it.

Wardrobe — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — Cream doors with a green cross-band. The banding aligns with the handle line, so one gesture does both the graphic work and the ergonomics.

Arched partition — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — A brass-framed arch between dining and living. Glazing only the upper half keeps sightlines open while still marking a threshold between the two.

Bedroom wardrobe — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — Full-height wardrobes with arched profiles routed into the doors. Carrying the arch across the entire run turns a wall of storage into a wall treatment.

Tv wall — Achira — 3BHK, Rupani — A marble slab with a timber shelf above it for the family's deities. The shelf sits off-centre, so the television is not the axis the room is arranged around.
