The Story

A three-bedroom apartment where the entrance does the talking: a backlit timber jali screen set against dark marble, opening into rooms lined in fluted oak. Cove lighting runs the perimeter of the living and dining ceilings, and a hand-painted panel marks the passage through to the bedrooms.

Oak door — Lattice — 3BHK, Tragad — The main door in oak with narrow mirrored inserts, lattice panels to either side. The inserts follow the lattice spacing, so door and surround read as one composition rather than a door with decoration around it.

Living — Lattice — 3BHK, Tragad — Fluted oak on one side, sheer curtain on the other, under a dropped ceiling with concealed cove lighting. The fluting is the only pattern in the room, which leaves the light to do the rest of the work.

Tv wall — Lattice — 3BHK, Tragad — Stone-effect panelling with the television inset, flanked by fluted oak and a backlit display niche. Brass reveals between panels give the wall a joint line to work to rather than hiding the junctions.

Corridor — Lattice — 3BHK, Tragad — The passage runs the depth of the flat, joinery to both sides and the kitchen visible at the end. Keeping the run pale and the floor unbroken makes a narrow corridor read as longer than it is.

Dining — Lattice — 3BHK, Tragad — Dining set between timber uprights under a dropped ceiling. The uprights divide the open plan without closing it, which a wall in the same position would have done.

Mural panel — Lattice — 3BHK, Tragad — A hand-painted panel of lotus and cattle set between wardrobe doors. Sizing the painting to a single door width lets it sit within the run of joinery instead of interrupting it.

Study nook — Lattice — 3BHK, Tragad — A study built into the wardrobe run, with a lit shelf above the desk. The desk returns into the joinery, so the workspace disappears when the room is read as a bedroom.
